A slight departure from local business search but I would like to offer my advice to the band of people I know that are learning to make money on the internet themselves.

Lots of folks decide to be Internet Marketers but find it difficult to pick a direction to take for the best results. The vast amount of different information that comes your way after you have given your email address away a few times leads to puzzlement and overwhelm. The first and best advice I can give is to stop now giving your address to loads of people. Most of them are selling short term tricks rather than long term business ideas.Pick the guy that feels the most sincere with you the most and follow that path to success. As a general rule the ones that sound like they are boasting and are showing you pictures of Ferraris etc. are to be avoided like the plague. Don’t get side tracked. The marketer that I find is believeably sincere in his wish for other people to succeed because of him and his methods is James Schramko. One Internet Business Strategy that he advocates is his Internet Business Formula and he has a downloadable course that is eye opening , utterly fantastic and great value.

Yellow pages ? Its for propping the door open

If you have a local business and you spend good hard earned money on Yellow Pages or local paper advertising you have to wake up and realise that your potential customers ‘Google it’ now. My Yellow Pages is still in the cellophane!
Now there has been years of people investing in the internet and getting little or no return and I understand that it is a very common problem. But what if instead of buying a new website you buy first page ranking on google for your local business and if you dont get it you get your money back ?
Most local business listings are there to be dominated at the moment and it can only get more competitive as the internet evolves and business men catch on.
If you have a local business that needs first page presence or a company website that nobody can find please let me help. You need to get started before everybody else realises that 40% of all google searches are local searches.

Local Search Directory Submission Offer

The basic requirement to feature in local results on the major search engines can be achieved by submitting to the Directories of Google, Yahoo and Bing. What type of business is this suited to?

This type of strategy for getting better results from the search engines is suited to any business that targets business in their local area. So when people type your business type and the name of your town into the search box you need to be on that results page and preferably the business that stands out on the page. So if you need your car wash to come out high in the results for the search term ‘ car wash Milton Keynes’ we would need to use that term to get you on the first page.

This will work for most trades from one man bands with no website to bigger businesses whose websites are lost somewhere on the internet. Its crazy how many people spend good money on nice looking websites that never actually get found in the search results.

Don’t think that because you are a plumber working on your own you don’t need to be there or it will be too expensive to be there. You do and it won’t.

I live in the Milton Keynes area and have looked closely at the local search results for Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, Bedford and Luton and most trades are wide open to be dominated in the search results. The traditional forms of advertising are dying as more and more people search the web. So get in and dominate before the competition.

Dominating the search results

If you are in a competitive market there are many people vying for those valuable top 10 first page places in the search results. If you employ the traditional tactic of building a website and crossing your fingers you might get a place in the top of the search results if you are lucky. If you set out to dominate the search results by using articles, press releases , videos etc to flood the internet with information about your company you can be the major force on the results page and bring your business the extra income you are looking for. Its not the phone book so you can have as many results as you want.

You need to know the keywords that are most relevant to your business so that you can use them to make it easier for your potential client to find you. I would then use those words to build internet vehicles to transport these enquiries to your business or website if you have one already. You dont need a website to appear in the local search results.

Good results can be achieved inexpensively though would need the occasional tweak to keep current. If you currently spend to advertise your business this method will be no more expensive but more effective over a longer period. I hope you give it serious consideration.

The search box on your computer is the most powerful tool available to find local business. People are more likely to use Yellow Pages to prop the door open than find a local service nowadays and local newspaper advertising is on the wane too. With every day that goes by search engines are being used more and more as a means of finding a solution to a problem. If you are the answer to the problem you need to pop up on the page when they type the magic words into the box that relate to your product or service.

If you spend your advertising budget on a classified advertisement in Yellow Pages or a newspaper 99.99% of the readership will have absolutely no interest in whatever you are doing. If you spend your cash on a mailshot or emailshot you have many variables that make these methods more miss than hit. However, if somebody is typing in your service, for your town to the search box the chances of doing business increase no end if you are on that search results page in some form or another. You don’t necessarily need a posh website or to spend lots of money but you do need to get on that page.

I know many people that have spent good money on nice websites that nobody looks at because they are lost somewhere in cyberspace. A presence is vital and I try to get more than one spot on the first page if possible for my clients then you are not only in a good position but you are also knocking out some of the competition. The mistake many people make is to think too narrowly and that the nice website is the only way of achieving this. If you take the time to study the results further many of the results are other things that lead back to a website. Its not much use having a website that nobody can find, and I can help you up those search results without it costing an arm and a leg.
